Mechanicsburg Real Estate

Mechanicsburg is a borough in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania just eight miles west of the state capital of Harrisburg. The town’s motto is “A Good Place to Live,” which seems accurate because it is situated near the crossroads of Interstate 81, Interstate 83, US Route 11, US Route 15 and the PA Turnpike.

Main Street Mechanicsburg feels like “small town USA.” It is lined with a collection of mom-and-pop restaurants and shops. You can find fresh local goods or pick-your-own flowers or pumpkins at nearby farm-fresh markets and stands. Or, if you’re looking for something more familiar, you can find all the big box names you’re used to along the Carlisle Pike.

Every year, since 1923, on the 3rd Thursday in June the streets of Mechanicsburg are transformed into the largest one-day street fair in the eastern United States known as Jubilee Day. This festival was originally an agricultural and merchants ‘thank you’ for support of the community. It has grown to include a main stage at the square where live music can be heard almost all day. Plenty of food, arts, and craft vendors line the streets. It is estimated that nearly 60,000 people attend this one-day party.

Hampden, Monroe, Silver Spring, and Upper Allen townships fall under the Mechanicsburg zip codes of 17055 and 17050. These areas in Mechanicsburg are served by the Mechanicsburg Area School District and the Cumberland Valley School District.
