Enola Real Estate

Enola is located on the west shore of the Susquehanna River in East Pennsboro Township, just minutes from the Pennsylvania state capital, Harrisburg. Enola’s roots go back to the expansion of railroad transportation. In 1905 the Enola Yard was built along the banks of the Susquehanna and was the world’s largest freight yard through 1956. This facility, now operated by Norfolk Southern, includes 79 tracks and is a crossroads for freight to move through the northeast United States.

Enola is a postcard of small-town Pennsylvania, complete with a Shady Lane and a historic one-room schoolhouse. Enjoy old-fashioned burgers and ice cream at Kristy’s Whistle Stop, an authentic 1950’s summer drive-in, just across the street from the aforementioned train yard.

If you’re looking for a place to take the kids, Adams Ricci Park offers plenty to do. This isn’t your normal park, it includes 82-acres of fishing, biking and hiking trails, bird watching, soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, batting cages, horseshoe pits, picnic areas, pavilions, a stage area and the Imagination Station (a massive children’s play structure).

Major employers around the Enola area include: Norfolk Southern, EDS, Highmark/Blue Shield, Rite Aid Corporation and Holy Spirit Hospital. Plus, being right across the river from Harrisburg, it is an ideal location to live for those that work in the city. East Pennsboro School District is the public education center for Enola.
