Cumberland County Real Estate

Cumberland County is situated in south central Pennsylvania on the west shore of the Susquehanna River. The area is rich in history as Confederate troops briefly occupied Cumberland County during the Civil War, leaving behind many historical sites to visit. For the outdoor enthusiast, Cumberland County includes three State parks: Kings Gap Environmental Education Center, Colonel Denning State Park and Pine Grove Furnace State Park, which includes the midway point of the Appalachian Trail. Major employers in the region include Highmark Blue Shield, Holy Spirit Hospital, Giant Food Stores, and the headquarters for Rite Aid Corporation. With the Naval Support Station in Mechanicsburg and the U.S. Army War College and Barracks in Carlisle it is no surprise that Cumberland County has one of the lowest unemployment rates in all of Pennsylvania. Cumberland County is conveniently located within a short drive of major metropolitan areas like Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C. and New York City.
